Dear Frederick,

As Québec is a french speaking province, speaking french is definitely a plus to work in the cities and regions. Based on my experience with engineering and IT companies, there are some work environment where the employees mainly speak in English, especially in the IT sector. Thus, it is possible to find companies where you can work mostly in English.

I recommend asking this question again during a first interview with a manager in Montréal. They will know what is feasible in the IT business consulting sector in terms of languages spoken and requirements from customers.

In any case, improving your french skills will not only have a positive impact on your career development in Québec, but also on your living experience in Montréal.

Hope it helps!
Julie
